The stainless steel

Stainless steel is an alloy of iron, carbon and chromium with a minimum chromium content of 10.5% by weight. Chromium creates a microscopic layer (5 – 15 nm) of chromium trioxide (Cr2O3), which protects the metal substrate from oxidation and corrosion. In addition to chromium, stainless steels may also contain other alloying elements, such as nickel Ni, molybdenum Mo, manganese Mn, etc.
